Powerful thoughts as we approach the upcoming legislative session

I ran across this, and they're powerful thoughts as we get ready to start another legislative session:
"For in a Republic, who is 'the country?'

Is it the Government which is for the moment in the saddle?

Why, the Government is merely a servant -- merely a temporary servant; it cannot be its prerogative to determine what is right and what is wrong, and decide who is a patriot and who isn't.

Its function is to obey orders, not originate them."

- Mark Twain

I thought Mark Twain was dead (not just a rumor). Seems like he just weighed into the state airplane issue and the politicians' desire to "correct" the orders from voters.

God is actualy the one who determined was is right and what is wrong. If we fail to listen to Him and to His Word then tyranny, oppression, and "money power rule" is sure to follow!
