Dang! Did this picture disappear fast!

At approximately 6:30 this morning, this picture of Congresswoman Herseth and Belle Fourche Mayor Todd Keller was up on the congresswoman's website. As of 5pm - that sucker was LONG GONE!

Who am I kidding? Any of us would have done the same. I certainly would have. The only reason I didn't also have pictures of anyone else up here too, is that I couldn't find any. I didn't think it would be effective enough with only one.

I was going to do a post on it with a kind of countdown to see how fast it came off of websites. I opted not to, but in light of how fast this photo was excised, I changed my mind.

And you know what - don't consider this a criticism of Herseth. Not at all. Because I would have done the same thing. I think its a fine example of how fast people are going to disavow him. I hope there are politicians who publicly do so. I'm very interested in what the Belle Fourche city council is going to say tonight. It may determine whether or not the honorable thing will be done.

And I'd just reiterate what I said in the prior post. I think he needs to resign now. Right Now.

Nothing say "class" like a tuxedo t-shirt. I wonder if Mr. Mayor will wear an "I'm With Stupid" t-shirt to his upcoming court hearing?

When they hold the special session (supposedly at the end of November) , since he's left them already, I think his colleagues should expel him from the caucus. Sure. At that point it's only going to be symbolic. But since he's already said he's running again in the near future, sometimes symbolism is enough.

It's about health, not potential promiscuity.

As the only South Dakota blogger out with 5 daughters, I feel I need to weigh in on the whole discussion that's occurring with regards to the HPV vaccine, and Governor Rounds' proposal to make it available. My family (including my three oldest girls) watched my mom, their grandmother, succumb slowly and painfully to cancer which spread throughout her body. If a similar fate from a different type of cancer was preventable through a simple shot, why wouldn't anyone advocate for it? At the age most of my kids are going to be getting it, they're still playing with barbies, and negative influences such as most of the programming on MTV, and other assorted trashy television is verboten in my house. All they're going to know about this vaccination is that it's a shot, just like for teatnus or measles. They'll go "Ow, I don't want a shot," and that will be it. Just another mark on their vaccination record. One check box for DPT, one for HPV, and so on
