No complaints here. None at all.....
Senator and Former First Lady Hillary Clinton (D) continues to former U.S. Senator Fred Thompson (R) by five points and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney by nine in early Election 2008 polling. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows Clinton leading Thompson 48% to 43%. The former First Lady has a 50% to 41% advantage over Romney.

and...

A separate survey shows Clinton trailing both former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Arizona Senator John McCain. That survey was completed in late May. Other surveys since then have shown McCain’s numbers declining due to his vocal and visible support for the Senate immigration bill.
Read that here. I really don't consider that something to be discouraged about, since Thompson is just starting to talk about being interested in running. The GOP base is already starting to coalesce around him as the front runner, and once his candidacy is defined and articulated, I anticipate he's going to gain on Hillary.

Speaking of Hillary losing votes....
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Tuesday switched his party status from Republican to unaffiliated, a stunning move certain to be seen as a prelude to an independent presidential bid that would upend the 2008 race

and...

"If he runs, this guarantees a Republican will be the next president of the United States. The Democrats have to be shaking in their boots," said Greg Strimple, a Republican strategist in New York who is unaligned in the race.
Read that all at Yahoo news.

Thompson and Guiliani to head the ticket in '08! I think the Reps have found their dream team!

Nonnie, Guiliani needs to head the ticket, though. He is the only Republcan who has a chance against Billary. Go Rudy!

You guys are dreaming if you think either Fred or Rudy could swallow their ginormous pride/ego and take a VP spot. No f'n way.

giuliani doesn't have a chance. many conservatives will not vote for him and most will not volunteer to help him. count me, for one, in both those camps.

it's a little early, i think, to jump on thompson's wagon, but he might have a decent shot.

You know, lexrex, I think it is time to put aside the abortion issue for the sake of the type of country we want in the future. I am pro-life and always will be. BUT, a country led by Hillary for 4-8 years will be a social welfare state paid for by me and you and all other taxpayers, will see illegal immigrants pouring in more than now and will welcome them with open arms because they will for the most part vote Dem, will try to appease those who aim to destroy us. And preventing that is IMO more important than voting against someone just because he might not be as pro-life as you would like. I will support whoever has a chance of defeating Hillary regardless of their stance on pro-life issues, and I hope that many others do to. The future of our country as we know it and love it is at stake.

Well said Nonnie 11:50.

Using the abortion issue as a conservative measuring stick will do nothing more than destory our chances of hanging onto the White House. That issue is off the table for me... I want the candidate who has the best chance of knocking out Hillary and/or Obama.

Yeah nonnie and 12:42! We Republicans MUST see this or we are doomed in 2008.

Fred Thompson may be a fine individual but I do not believe that we can beat the Hillary machine with a man who isn't sure he even wants the job. He is a "dream" candidate, for some, but it is only a dream.

Thompson is a lawyer turned actor turned lobbyist turned senator turned actor turned presidential candidate. He doesn't stand a chance.
