A public spanking for the Pierre School Board

Regarding my "quote of the day" post below from a few days back, apparently the Pierre Capitol Journal didn't much care for the "This in not a public meeting, but a meeting held in public" quote either.

And they got out their spanking stick to administer editorial justice.

Ms. Nordbye is 100% correct. It's called a republican form of government. We elect people to make decisions for us - we're not talking about direct democracy here. The school board can take as much public input as they want to. Elections are the only process where school district patrons are guaranteed to get a say in school board decision making.

It makes for an excellent quote for a political opponent to jump on, but it's really mere sophistry if you want to be honest about it.
