Representative Alan Hanks gets into RC Mayoral Race
Adding to an already crowded field smelling blood in the Rapid City Mayoral Race, State Representative Alan Hanks has confirmed what many had long suspected, that he would enter this year's mayoral contest:
State Rep. Alan Hanks announced Tuesday his candidacy for mayor of Rapid City in the June 5 municipal election.Read it all here in the Scott Aust article in the Rapid City Journal. With Hanks' candidacy, that puts seven people willing to jump in against the current mayor who faces issues of his health (as brought up in today's other article), his leadership, the city's investment in infrastructure, and Shaw's pounding on cars in Iowa.
Hanks, a former city council member and current District 32 representative, said he will resign his seat in the Legislature if elected mayor. Gov. Mike Rounds would then appoint a replacement to serve the remaining year of his current term.

I bet Hanks gets 50 thousand from Adelstein hahahaha
If I win, Adelstein has already told folks including the Governors folks that he would not ask for or accept an appoint to the open House seat.
As for campaign donations from Adelstein, I have not accepted or been offered any.
If Adelstein offers to donate to my campaign, either as an individual or through any PAC, and if I accept any donation from Adelstein, I have promised PP to report it to him, even if it’s only $10, the day I receive it.
Rep. Alan Hanks
On another note - what kind of person puts Rep. in front of their name? Why not just Alan Hanks?
Pretty concered with the title.
"Did I mention I'm a Representative. I represent you. And representing you is something I do for you, that's why they give me this fancy title. It's because I'm a representative."
I've seen Dusty Johnson post on here. He doesn't put PUC Commish Dusty Johnson. I've seen Brock Greenfield post on here - he doesn't put Sen. Brock Greenfield.
Is it possible that Rep. Alan Hanks has a little too much ego for his own good?
Is that why he had to nip funding perceptions in the bud and hold himself accountable to PP?
Does having an ego represent the people?
Did he vote secretly to conceal the truth about Roswell?
Does 12:33 ask too many annoying questions?
So what if it is. He is an elected official and he does have the title. It does not make him better it makes him worthy because he was and is an elected official.
yes, this applies to both sides of the isle even if i don't agree with both sides.
