Cartoonist Jason Folkerts takes on the Herseth icecap trip

South Dakota Editorial Cartoonist Jason Folkerts takes on Congresswoman Herseth Sandlin's trip to Greenland on the editorial section of the Argus Leader, as well as his own website:
People aren't sitting kindly in SD as they hear about her chatting it up with Belgium scientists (all the while there are pressing issues needing her attention back home). If you thought the polar ice caps were cold Stephanie, wait till you get back to the heartland.
See the entire cartoon, and read it all here at http://jasonfolkerts.blogspot.com.

by all accounts, it was smart of Steph to go on this trip. she's learning hands-on about things she needs to be aware of when deciding on FEDERAL policy. she's making herself a smarter, better legislator by apprising herself of the facts. why on Earth she should be critizied for that is beyond me.

Geez guys. Does this mean Thune's trips abroad were all just junkets? Careful not to be so stupid as to paint yourself into a corner.

John Thune didn't take a trip with the darling of Damascus. It will be slightly more difficult to criticise a Thune trip. He won't be going with the far left to Damascus or the Antartic to engage in the politics of the absurd.

I'm sure she will find a warm reception in her home turf of Aberdeen and Brown County. But then she went and placated them when it rained nine inches there.

Didn't all that rain in Aberdeen drain down the James River, flooding it every inch of the way to the Missouri?

I think she will get a cold reception in Huron, Mitchell, Yankton and points in between because apparently she cares only about Aberdeen.

What in the world do you expect her to do? Stay in South Dakota 24/7 and read political blogs. We do live in the state of South Dakota, but last I knew we were still part of planet Earth. Part of her function is to learn about big problems not just our problems. Last I knew most scientists do believe global warning is a real (not a fabricated) problem. You go Stephanie, and critics can complain all they want!!!!!!!!!!!1

Do you really think that If Gore thought things were so bad he would do the things he does.
Let's say like build a home with many buildings that is way bigger than anyone needs. Flit around the world in a private plane and have to buy tax credits "carbons" from other industry so he can do his flitting around.
Get real they "Dems" complain but don't hold themselves to the same standards.
Ker Plunk! No respect!

Yes there is.

(Darn it - I liked the commentary, myself.)

How can her trip be a blunder? This is a wake up call to an admin. that guts the environment, the Constitution, and continues to diminish support and good will from other nations.

Nice ostrich perspective some of you have. Not sure how you can type with your fingers over your eyes......
