Quote of the day.

From AP news, regarding the Planned Parenthood Potluck effort this weekend:
Sarah Stoesz, president of Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota, said ban opponents in more than 30 states are planning to hold the potlucks as fundraisers.

"For the first time we are on a truly offensive grassroots political mission," Stoesz said.
Read it here. Yup. "Rockin' fun potlucks" in support of abortion. A truly offensive grassroots political mission.

hit the nail on the head there...

While the words that some people chose to describe the potlucks were a poor choice, there is nothing wrong with having a dinner to raise money for a cause. Churches do it all the time.
Putting graphic photos of aborted fetuses in front of young children is much more offensive, especially when those photos and horror stories have no relevance to what is happening in South Dakota, which previously allowed abortions only to the eighth or ninth week of pregnancy.
Having people like Leslee Unruh twist the facts to suit their own agenda is more offensive than a potluck fundraiser. Wanting the government to make personal choices for women, that should be between them and their doctors, is most offensive of all.
So if having potluck dinners to raise funds for Planned Parenthood offends some of you, so be it. The pro-birth people started this mess so they had better be prepared to deal with the fallout. That is what happens when one group forces their beliefs upon another group.

Sorry, the pro-birth people as you call them didn't start this. Those who refuse to acknowledge that a person spends the first nine months of his life inside the womb and the next hopefully many years outside the womb started it with their promotion of wholesale abortion on demand.

Why are you so worried about the photos? They are real and the truth. Does the truth hurt?

On the offensive...what a great crusade...

So Nonnie, do you believe some women's quest for abortion on demand justifies denying abortion as an alternative to victims of rape and incest or to women whose health is threatened? The argument that women will lie about being raped to get an abortion is bogus and a slap in the face to women everywhere. And there is no exception in 1215 for rape and incest victims. That claim is only a desperate attempt to save a poorly written piece of legislation.
No one is forcing anyone to have abortions, only to show some compassion to women in crisis. All the arguments about murdering babies, if that what you prefer to call 2-inch fetuses, don't change the fact that women are living, breathing people who deserve some consideration too.

Anon 9:46 - What do those photos have to do with South Dakota? Prior to 1215, the state didn't allow abortions beyond eight or nine weeks anyway. A fetus at that stage of development doesn't begin to resemble the fetuses shown in those photos.
Who in their right mind would want to subject small children to those type of photos? Sick people, that's who. Anyone else has enough sense to know better.

"Wanting the government to make personal choices for women, that should be between them and their doctors, is most offensive of all."

THIS IS A LIE!
Having worked in the medical profession for a number of years and having listened to Dr Bell and PP during the Task Force hearings--there is NO choice made "between women and their doctors" in South Dakota!

Women listen to a TAPED TELEPHONE MESSAGE--which serves as informed consent! My daughter can't even get her EARS PEIRCED on that flimsy of an informed consent yet this is allowable for a surgical proceedure that occassionally ends in two deaths!

The FIRST TIME that the woman MEETS the doctor and has a chance to ask questions is when she is already in a hospital gown, on a surgical table with everything in place to begin sucking the baby from her body!

This is NOT about the government making choices for women. This is about helping women make BETTER choices. Not ones that will damage her own heath and kill the future generations of our country.

All these people posting notes about what a fetus/baby looks like at 8-9 weeks have clearly never seen one!

My sister miscarried her baby at home. This is from the letter that she sent me afterward.

Then I relaxed and delivered our 9 1/2-week baby. He was perfect. He had ten little toes and ten little fingers. He had ears and eyes. He was the size of a large lima bean and he was floating so delicately in his home of water. The entire package--sack, baby and placenta--fit perfectly in the palm of my hand.

Yes--Planned Parenthood with its 274 million in annual tax dollars is offensive.

Anon 10:45 PM - If this about helping women make BETTER choices, then find a way to do it while still allowing them to make their OWN choice. To deny rape and incest victims and women with serious health problems the opportunity to make their own choices as to whether to continue their early term pregnancies is cruel.

If you want to see a photograph of a 9-week-old fetus, go to http://www.pregnancy.org/pregnancy/
fetaldevelopment1.php#week9.

That is a far cry from the photos that the wackos from Wisconsin were parading on the streets.

Once I was a two-inch fetus. I'm glad my mother didn't have such a flippant attitude about my life.

Planned (Anti-)Parenthood in South Dakota aborts fetuses up to 13 weeks and 6 days after implantation. After that, they refer mothers elsewhere to have the abortions performed. Enter Drs. Bell and Ball.

Why do people find pictures of aborted fetuses objectionable?

We all were once 2-inch fetuses, but if my mother had found it necessary to end a crisis pregnancy, I wouldn't have known the difference. She was an intelligent woman, and she would have done what was right for her and for her family.
If God wanted me to exist, He could have given me another body. For all I know, maybe He did. I believe that God can do that because God can do anything.

I don't have a problem looking at aborted fetuses, but I don't think young children should be subjected to things that they don't understand. When people subject children to things like that, I wonder what they show their own children in the privacy of their homes. Sick individuals do sick things.

Roe V Wade restricts the states ability to outlaw abortions in the first six months.
Doe V Bolton forces states to allow abortion in the 7th, 8th and 9th month.

Under present law, Planned Parenthood can abort the unborn baby at any time that the baby is inside the womb.

Anon 2:56, your faith in God runs deep.

Anon 2:56, your mockery of God is quite unfortunate. When I read your comment, I was reminded of Matthew 4, which says:

5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Also, I recalled Matthew 27, in which Jesus was hanging on the cross and people were scoffing at Him that He saved others but could not save Himself. They said "If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross" and "He trusted in God, let Him deliver him now."

In the end, Jesus triumphed over sin and death. However, He didn't do it by appeasing Satan and the heathens who mocked Him. Your assertion would suggest that we all might live many lives. It is akin to the Hindu belief in reincarnation, and it completely rejects the message contained in the Bible.

I hope you come to believe in the word of God and quit tempting and mocking Him.

Anon 2:56 - You people are really something. Where did you come up with the idea that I was mocking God? It must have been because my firm belief in a higher power doesn't jive with how you prefer to interpret God's word.
I have noticed that seems to a trait of too many of you radical right people. I believe in following Jesus' command to love your neighbor. All you people can talk about is judging other people and spewing your hate-filled messages.
No wonder people refer to you as the Prairie Taliban.
May heaven protect us all from hypocrites like you!

Anon 2:56 - I should have added previously that my assertion, as you referred to it, implies only that if God intended to place my soul in one body, He could change his mind and place it into another body instead. It has nothing to do with reincarnation.
Of course that coincides with my belief that ensoulment does not take place at conception, which I'm sure you do not share. You have a right to your belief, and I have a right to mine - whether you like it or not.
Being a Christian involves more than quoting scripture. You have to do more than talk the talk. You also have to walk the walk - and you appear to be limping.

Joan,
Love is patient and kind, not jealous or boastful, not arogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way. It is not irritable or resentful....

You say "I believe in following Jesus' command to love your neighbor. All you people can talk about is judging other people and spewing your hate-filled messages.
No wonder people refer to you as the Prairie Taliban."

Can you REALLY say that you are patient and kind??

Then you say "You have to do more than talk the talk. You also have to walk the walk - and you appear to be limping."

Not arrogant or rude??

First it is OK to killing living beings--whether they are insouled or not--then it is OK to call nasty names--finally it is OK to be holier than thou.

And you insist that you believe in loving your neighbor and you think that you are walking the walk??

Oh my! Could there be a little speck in your eye?

Anon 11:14 PM (Forgive me for not addressing you as Mom, but it hasn't been that long since my Mom died.) - I didn't say I was perfect - far from it. I was only pointing out that members of the religious right, who are so busy judging others, are not perfect themselves.

I agree that I shouldn't have made the Prairie Taliban remark. I don't anger often, but the accusation that I was mocking the God that I have believed in ever since I can remember infuriated me. I acted without giving it adequate thought so I plead guilty to that one.

I don't believe in abortion on demand, or in late term abortions, but I firmly believe that there are circumstances where the woman's well-being must be the top consideration. I find it absolutely incredible that other people believe they have the right to deny rape or incest victims or women with serious health problems the access to an abortion if that is determined to be the best alternative for them.

All the debate in the world isn't going to change my opinion or yours regarding the abortion ban. That's why it's going before the people.
