Herseth's new committee considered junket central with $1 Million to blow

As was widely reported last month, the associated press notes that the Global Warming committee that Speaker Nancy Pelosi named Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth to is being considered for re-titling by one fellow democrat as "the committee on world travel and junkets" by a fellow Democrat:

"We should probably name it the committee on world travel and junkets," said Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich., chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which overseas the Clean Air Act and the Environmental Protection Agency.

"We're just empowering a bunch of enthusiastic amateurs to go around and make speeches and make commitments that will be very difficult to honor," said Dingell, a champion of the auto industry, which could be required to producing cleaner-burning and more fuel efficient vehicles.

Read all of that here at breitbart.com.

That could prove to be a troublesome issue for Herseth, as it was one of the few issues that opponents used against then Congressman Tim Johnson as an issue they thought might resonate with voters.

Further damaging to Democrats who gave lip service to reform efforts is that after they made promises to clean up Washington, other press reports indicate that $1 million in funding from the House Ethics Committee was shifted to the new Global Warming Committee, which has no authority to draft and approve legislation.

So, our congresswoman is on a committee that has a million redirected from ethics reform, to take a bunch of trips, and they have no legislative authority.

Hmmm....

"You parents out there that have fallen for this global warming stuff because your little screaming kid is coming home, 'Waa, ha, ha! We're killing the polar bears!' -- tell the kid to grow up and shut up and tell the kid that Gore is a liberal Democrat!" Rush Limbaugh

Well said Rush Limbaugh!

if Dingell is bashing this "committee" it must be a complete joke because he's a strong liberal. Pelosi is just helping out her little but-girl Stephie...

when will all you bozos realize that Stephanie is an Al Gore in sheep's clothing??? just because she is a good actress and the South Dakota "press" just reprints her press releases doesn't mean you should lose sight of what she really is!

where is Peter "I love Stephanie" Harriman on this story about this phony committee?

Dingell is a "strong liberal," but he also represents Michigan - he is going to oppose anything that could hurt the car companies.

What a joke. Why would she waste her time with this? Could her time not be better spent attending to the ag bill? To veterans care? She's going to be spending valuable time (and the money for junkets) on a problem, that may or may not be a problem, looking for solutions that won't have any significant affect on the supposed problem.

If she were smart she would remove herself from the committee and focus her attention on what is important to South Dakotans.

This is yet another of Princess Stephanie's blunders...she's wedding herself to the liberal nut-job eco-freaks....and she will be wedding herself to a 58-year-old lobbyist/defeated Democrat/hack...

Let's all say it together;

ETHANOL

BIODIESEL

Do you "Republicans" really care about either or do you just give it lip service to win elections.

Even Rounds has said global warming is an issue that must be addressed. Or should he just grow up and shut up like the big fat drug addicts says

This committee is just more squandered resources. Ethanol and biodiesel will never make us independent. A more substantial solution is to develop these things, but more importantly, develope our own resources--That means drilling for oil off the coasts and in Alaska. Notice this week that Halibertan has moved it's headquarters from Texas to Dubai? No opportunities in the United States.

10:20 pm - If your were a governor in a corn state would you say what is needed to later run for senate?

By joining the "select" committee on Global Warming, Granola, & Tree Hugging run by Al Gore wannabees, Stephanie reveals bad judgment. The committee doesn't even have any power or jurisdiction on legislative matters. As Democratic Chairman Dingell says in the quote, this is just a junket committee for lefties who want to rub shoulders with the Sierra Club and animal rights fanatics. This committee is just Pelosi's payoff to the environmentalist grandstanders who fund Democratic campaigns. This is a huge waste of Stephanie's time that she should be spending on legitimate issues and real committees. Does it seem like Stephanie is making mistakes of late?

You people make me laugh. Herseth could save babies from a burning building and you all would complain about how fake it all was, how bad her hair looks and how her taste in men needs improving. Grow up.

That Herseth is a joke. She carries the water for Pelosi and the rest of the liberals. Reminds me of a little twerp runing behind yelling "me too, me too". Her voting record is not in the interest of South Dakota.
