It looks like Fred Thompson is a go...

Fred Thompson was on the tonight show last night talking about reluctantly wanting to get into the Presidential race:
Asked by Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show" if he'd like the nation's top job, the former Tennessee senator said, "I've never craved the job of president, but I want to do some things that only a president can do."

"So," Thompson added, "the answer is yes."

and...

Referring to his time in the U.S. Senate, he said, "I often say after eight years in Washington, I longed for the realism and sincerity of Hollywood."
Read it all here at the Rapid City Journal. That was a pretty good one.

I was just telling my wife the other day that we really need a 70 year old with cancer for our next president.

And with the bang-up job W has been doing, we really should put one of his see "no evil, hear no evil" silent enabler monkeys in office so we can get more of the same. Maybe Thune could be the VP and succeed to the office when Thompson dies! Oh happy day!

O gezz, please. You must be one of those socialism posters!

Fred can try to play the "DC outsider" game, but soon enough it's going to come out that he was an extremely well paid lobbyist (for nearly 20 years) and as much of an insider as anyone else there.

Fred may look like Herman Munster but boy is his wife hot. Saw her on the Today show and she looks about 30 years younger than him.We will have one good lookin first lady.

WE are not electing the "wife", yep, the presidnet and his wife talk, as they should but it comes down to shoulders of the pres and his key staff, mainly the pres.
Looks count, but i do not hinge my vote on a spouse!

I do have an exception as many do the H&B we don't need that in the White House again but, then I would never vote for them/ him or her anyway! They put capital letters across the board in the word GROSS!

That was a really good quote.

I'm still undecided on Fred Thompson. I'm not opposed to having another Republican in that office (he can't be as bad the current one, right?). I just hope he won't continue all the horribly immoral activities that Republicans have been doing for the past 8 years.

Haggs, Thompson has spent many more than 8 years in Washington, and many more in Hollywood too.

His entire adult life, save for a few years has been spent in Hollywood and Washington. As Thompson alluded - not a whole lot of sincerity or realism in either place.

But the main question should be: "If this actor gets to be big dog, who's going to be writing his scripts for him to read?" Probably Rove or someone who wants to be Rove.

Wake up, GOP-ers. Thompson or no Thompson, at this point (and yes, there is a long time between now and November of 2008 and things could change), the only Republican candidate that has any chance of winning is Rudy. I know he turns off the folks who are hung up on the social-issues thing (yes, that concern me too but I think our safety and defense as a country are more important in the overall scheme of things). We need to get past Rudy's positions on abortion, gay rights, etc., if we don't want Hillary in the White House.

As far as his history as a "lobbyist and a trial lawyer", they’re less than meaningless. Particularly given that his most famous moments as a lawyer are (a) exposing corruption in Watergate, (b) exposing corruption in the Tennessee governor’s office, and (c) fighting corruption on “Law & Order.”

Since when do lefties run against guys who exposed Watergate?

Nice try 10:37, Thompson was a Republican counsel during watergate. His job at the time was damage control - to make like nothing had happened until the evidence became so overwhelming that republicans could no longer keep the Democrats from kicking out Nixon.

And when he worked for the Tennessee governor, Lamar Alexander, if there was any corruption in the governor's office it was again Republican corruption.

And his job on Law and Order - hahahahaha! He was reading a script someone wrote.

Latest LA Times/Bloomberg poll Rudy beats Hillary 49/39. Now if Gov. Rounds would just step up and take out Hillary Jr. in the '08 Senate race we'd be rid of both of them.

Why don't we here about how pathetic the Dems are compared to the Republicans.
Dems
Hilary Clinton- wife of a Gov. & Pres., carpet bagged a senate seat.
John Edwards- Made his millions as a trial lawyer, been senator for six years running for Pres for five.
Barrack Obama- Never done a darn thing except be senator for two years.
Al Gore- a cook but by far the most experienced of the Democrat candidates.
GOP
McCain- decorated Veteran, POW, Senator longer than the top three dems combined.
Rudy Giuliani- Took on the Mob, turned the rotting of the big apple around as mayor. Did a magnificent job on 9/11.
Mitt Romney- turned around some of the biggest buisnesses in the country, was elected in the bluest state in the country because the Dems had taxed it into the ground.
Fred Thompson- First in his family to graduate from college, became a lawyer, an actor and a senator. He's a self made man in the private sector.
Newt Gingrich- Lead the Revolution. Need I say more!

It's time we realized how pathetic the dems are. I can't be in awe of a first lady, a trial laywer or somebody that hasn't done anything. Rudy vs Gore in '08.
