Hot Springs Has a Polygamist in it
(to the tune of "Texas has a whorehouse in it")

"Hot Springs has a Polygamist in it."
"Lord have mercy on our souls."

Okay, It's too early in the AM to start making up songs to the tune of famous broadway productions. But I just had to. The report of a dangerous polygamist sect of roofers just struck me as funny. From the Argus Leader:
A 100-acre property in Pringle appears to be home to followers of Warren Jeffs, a fugitive and the leader of a polygamist sect, the FBI said Thursday.

Considered a prophet by his thousands of followers, Jeffs, 51, is wanted in Arizona on charges of sexual assault against a minor. He also is wanted on a federal unlawful flight charge for fleeing prosecution.

Jeffs is the leader of the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints, according to the FBI. The church teaches that a man must marry at least three women to enter heaven and has been labeled a hate group because of racist teachings. It has been linked to land purchases in Utah, Arizona, Texas, Colorado and British Columbia.
and...
The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

Brower said Jeffs and his bodyguards are dangerous, but the compound in Pringle probably is not.

"The biggest danger is that they'll put all the contractors in South Dakota out of business," he said.

"Some polygamist roofer that has 20 kids who are all roofers can easily outbid anybody," Brower said.

"They've all made a fortune, and it all goes to Warren Jeffs."
You and your wives sit down and read it all here.

Can anyone explain the compelling governmental interest in how many "wives" or "husbands" one has?

You're right Bob. It seems as if people forget this little line, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, OR PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF". Then there is this little gem "or abridging....the right of the people to peacefully assemble".

How about we live and let live until someone actually breaks a law rather than having the thought police trying to divine someones future actions.

In the meantime my house and barn could both use new shingles.

I saw on the news last night that they did a raid on a compound in Pringle SD. I doubt there's too many other "compounds" over there, but polygamy looks to be the least of their problems.
No wonder they can get their kids to do roofing... they're all on meth! Hmmm... I wonder if mine would clean their rooms.
