Mmmmmm. Beef.
Straight from Kota Story Meats courtesy of Jarrod Johnson

I'm sitting here enjoying the greater part of a leftover ribeye steak, and I'm noticing that I have yet to give credit where credit is due. Because this steak is good. Not just a little good - but really good.

What does this have to do with politics? Well, let me tell you...

In one of my post-convention blogposts, I was lamenting the fact that I was not the winner of the beef raffle in School and Lands candidate Jarrod Johnson's hospitality room. That lucky soul was Chad Heinrich, Deputy Secretary of State and Hughes County GOP Chair.

So one night last week, my wife called and explained that there was a visitor at the house. Jarrod Johnson had read the post, and during one of his many campaign trips across the state stopped at my Brookings residence and dropped off a "care package" of steaks for us to enjoy for the 4th of July.

When he's not campaigning for the office of School and Public Lands, Jarrod is president and part owner of Kota Story Meats, a value added beef processor which sells to homes and restaurants. And let me tell you - the steaks were phenomenal. They were marbled and trimmed just right. Even the leftovers are better than many steaks I've had. (As my mouth waters again just typing this).

So, a BIG thank you on my (and my wife's) part to Jarrod for his kind gesture. It was the hit of the night.

And if you're drooling just thinking of tasty grilled South Dakota raised beef, get ahold of 'Kota Story Meats in Hurley and order some steaks - you won't be disappointed.

I've never met Jarrod but he would have to be very, very good to give Healy a close race.

Jarrod IS very, very good, but it's tough to beat an incumbant... although Thune showed us that it can be done.

I'd write more, but I have to go get something to eat. That bit about the beefsteak made my mouth water.

Didn't this very, very good candidate alread lose a legislative race?

Yes, but if I remember correctly it was a close election and he lost to an incumbent.

He got 3rd place out of 3 candidates. Neither of the other 2 were incumbents (one was a former legislator). The point is that this guy has you all going ga ga and he can’t even win a legislative race. I wish you would always put up your legislative losers for statewide office.

"Jarrod has something Healy lacks, integrity"

That is one hell of a statement. Got anything to back that up or are you just another shill for the republicans?

Jarrod will bring integrity and will be responsible to the tax payer when he defeats Healy!

I have had Jarrod over to my house for dinner, I have had many conversations with him and I do agree strongly that he is a good candidate and that he is honest and has integrity. He is a hard worker and would do just about anything to help out a friend in need. He Will get our votes.
