Here's a SDWC salute for giving it a shot

Here's a trivia contest for you. The scrolling banner has been completely taken over by former candidates for South Dakota's seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Can you name all of them who hover above? AND what year their attempt(s) for the seat failed? Not all of them went to a primary or general election, but they were all officially off and running.

Your prize for successful identification? You will win your choice of one of the political pins pictured below. They also represent a bunch of candidates who gave it the good old college try for electoral office. (there's even a couple of hints in there for the pictures scrolling above).

Got your guesses? E-mail me with your answers. The first one who has it right wins. Remember - Politician, and the year(s) they weren't able to grab the brass congressional ring.

Good Grief!
I don't recognize half of these people! Maybe that's why they lost! Good luck to all who try.

I’ll give it a try:

Starting with Stephanie Herseth we have

Dick Brown, May have been in the group of possibilities for the 2004 special election

Larry Diedrich, Republican nominee 2004

Allen Unruh, failed to get the 2004 republican nomination for the special election

Ron Volesky, ran in the Republican primary in 1986

Rick Weiland, Democrat nominee in 1996 and failed in his primary attempt in 2002

Terry Begay, Libritarin nominee in 2002 & 2004

Barb Everest, failed to get the special election nomination in 2004

Larry Russel, same

Jan Berkhout, Republican nominee in 1994

Roger Hunt, ran for the Republican nomination in 2002

Curt Hohn, Democrate nominee in 2000

Don Frankenfeld, (I’m not 100% on this one) Republican nominee in 1990

Bob Newland, 1992 Libertarian nominee

Ron Williamson, failed to get the nominated for the 2004 special election

Jeff Partridge, actually dropped out of the special election so was never an official candidate

That was fun!

BJ is really close, although I need to verify things. I think I notice 2 mistakes.

OK ….the Frankenfeld was a complete guess but I don’t know where the other mistake might be.

Actually, frankenfeld is 1/2 right, another one is half right, and you completely forgot about the easiest (and one of the most recent congressional race losses)

OK Pat…I thought Herseth was a gimme, like the free space in Bingo.

The picture of Roger Hunt depicts him as the smarmy little tick he really is.

Hmmmm. My primary browser is Netscape, so I got confused when Ben and the moron came up with a bunch of names whose faces I didn't see, including mine.

I found that Explorer shows a different set of scrolling faces than Netscape does.

I'll send a newer photo.

What can you do about the difference between what Netscape and Explorer show?

Hit refresh on your browser. Netscape has nothing to do with it.

The pictures are cached on your computer's hard drive to reduce load times.

If that doesn't work, delete your offline content.

(and try firefox - it's a much better browser)

Well, by clicking something accidentally and waiting, waiting, waiting all those faces finally filled the squares.

The FBI and the Post Office should use the scrolling faces for their most wanted. Nice contrast to some of the least wanted.

More seriously, give 'em all a hat tip for taking a shot at it...or a kick in the rear for being arrogant enough to think they should take a shot at it anyway.

Don't know what this means, but Blogger pucked out "osgop" for the word verification.

Allen Unruh-2004 Special Olympics Team Captain. At least that's about as good as he deserves.
