Oops.

From the Rapid City Journal:
The Federal Election Commission has fined the South Dakota Republican Party for failing to file a November 2005 financial report on time. The commission said in a news release Tuesday that the party was fined $1,000.

Max Wetz, a spokesman for the party, said Tuesday that he did not feel comfortable talking about the fine. He declined to elaborate on why the report was late.
I'd point it out if there was a story on the "D's" doing it, so rather than being hypocritical, here it is. Mea Culpa.

That is a classic example of carelessness. There really is no excuse to be late, however I agree that this would not even make the headlines if the Democrats were late in filing their FEC report.

I still say the SD Republican Party and the Round Administration missed the boat by not hiring Martin native, Ben Ready. Rounds and Frederick were unwilling to hire anyone who had strong ties to anyone else but themselves. Too bad because he would have been spectacular.

Dana Randall should be nominated as the next State GOP Chairman! It's time for change at the SD GOP, and Dana Randall is our best candidate. Dana is someone who would work with all Republican officials and candidates, and he would not play favorites.

I'm afraid Randall is in the Frederick camp. Frederick has placed huge investments of state party money with his investment firm. He won't run against Frederick.

You are right, though. We do need new leadership in the Party. Very little appears to be going in the right direction. I'm still trying to figure out what the message of the GOP candidates is going to be. Return me to Pierre and I'll help Rounds raise taxes and spend everything that comes in the door. What else does the Rounds administration stand for?

Guys, why don't we worry about winning the election, and then we can beat each other up.

Because at the end of the day, who would you rather have in in charge - an R or a D?

So, you're saying that Ben Ready would have "been ready"?

At least better than Ben Dover

I agree. Ben Ready whould have been an outstanding choice. Ben is bright, articulate, and conservative. Something that the Rounds Administration and the SD GOP is lacking. It's sad the Rounds and Frederick insist on hiring close friends, rather than the most qualified candidate. Ben Ready had the most experience and talent, period.

I don't know. I think Ben Fishing was more laid back.

I hate to break it to you, mjb, but you Ben Had.

PP: We need to be planning for the future. November may very well be an ugly time for the SD GOP. If the voters return the republicans to Pierre, what will they get in return? I think that is a fair question.

Who would i rather have in pierre? Most of the D's voted against Governor Round's massive tax increases of 2003 and many of them voted against his massive spending increases of 2003-present. How many new state employees have been added by Governor Rounds? What's he done for the state besides getting himself a new mansion and plane? At least the D's have a spine. With just a few exceptions, our R's are pathetic lapdogs waiting in line to kiss Rounds' patootie.
