Update on the fundraiser Harry Reid is having for Senator Johnson

I had posted about this event earlier, but a new "revised" fax has gone out in the beltway with a list of who is going to be there to raise money for Senator Johnson's re-election.

I'm tired of this bullshit that keeps getting pushed. If being in the military makes a person more qualified for office (a bizarre idea), then does it also not make a person more qualified for anything?

If you're ready to lay your life on the line for the Country, you're just the kind of person we need to sell term life insurance!

Considering that anyone with four distal pulses can get into the military, I see that about as demanding as pouring piss out of a boot. It's not like you get to just QUIT the military once you're in.

I've met some extremely stupid military personnel that I hope were never given anything more deadly than a shovel. The ratio of stupid to not stupid is, in fact, slightly higher in the military.

There's plenty of qualified people in the general public, just as in the military. There's no special gift that doing as your told for four years gives you.

Precisely.

Here's my favorite military quote from my grandfather (who was there, as a U.S. Army Captain in France under Patton in WWII.)

Hep 2,3,4,
Hep 2,3,4,
Hep 2,3,4,
Finger in yer butt...
Change fingers!
Hep 2,3,4,
Hep 2,3,4,
Hep 2,3,4,
etc...

Does anyone think Johnson's going to run in '08? He's stalling, clinging to power for his party and to give Stephanie a chance. Rounds better step up to the plate and take this seat. It will not sit well with me if it takes us twenty years to get rid of Herseth like Daschle. I hope we haven't forgotten how great it felt in '04.
I don't want that to be my last thought of Rounds.

If Tim Johnson has improved to 90% like Harry Reid said or to 100% like Rick Hauffe said (Argus Leader yesterday), Tim Johnson should be able to give a press conference this week!

Care to bet he doesn't? And if he doesn't it puts the lie to both Reid and Hauffe's words.
