Herseth: Melted Ice is dramatic

Our congresswoman is back in the good old U.S. of A. after taking a European Tour with Speaker Nancy Pelosi. And she has a few things to say about global warming as reported by the Sioux Falls Argus Leader.

Just back from a weeklong, four-nation tour to learn what other countries are doing about climate change, Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, D-S.D, said that in Greenland, she saw melted ice flowing from glaciers caused by global warming.

"That's pretty powerful," she said Friday. "To see the ice that had broken off from the main glaciers is dramatic."

and...

Pelosi, D-Calif., praised the European Union's aggressive new energy policy, which calls for reducing greenhouse gas emissions 20 percent below 1990 levels by 2020.

and...

Herseth Sandlin was more diplomatic. She said Bush's proposal was a first step, but "we have to fill in with the details." She agreed with Pelosi that more must be done to slow the long-term effects of global warming.
Read it all here in the Argus.

We're still waiting for an announcement of the Herseth Sandlin sponsored Pelosi tour of the Conata basin.

I'm only posting because I didn't want this topic to be dominated by the political "analysts" who want to make fun of her hair.

It is better to remain silent and let everyone think you are an idiot than to post on your blog and prove it.

The bad [and as yet under-the-radar] news is that trapped in the Greenland ice cap, there were something like 6 or 7 billion pre-historic, giant web-footed, prairie dogs in suspended animation who have been suddenly liberated and broght back to life to life. They were last seen via spy satellite making their way up the St. Lawrence seaway on their way to the great plains of South Dakota. God help us all.

Yes Stephanie the ice is melting. Thank goodness it is or you wouldn't have been able to grow up on your family farm in the glacial lakes region formed by, yes you guessed it, a glacier. The settlers in the early 1900,s even failed to mention the glacier that formed the Missouri river that they must have had to crawl off of to get to the west.
Yes Stephanie, the ice is melting, but humans didn't cause it or the speed at which the ice is melting. An ice cube in a glass of water melt faster than a glass full of ice cubes.
Contrary to the current rant green house gasses are probably slowing down global warming by acting as a buffer. Remember Agriculture (South Dakota) is a high energy business and the more restrictive (ie expensive) you make it, the less competitive we become. Look around and use some common sense. Don't do something stupid and follow those that have made this their religion.

Stephanie should bring Pelosi to the Conata Basin and they should have a press conference and say if that is environmental devastation.

Prairie dogs are really cute, and fun to shoot.

Doesn't she know that that's what glaciers do, slowly slide downhill, then gradually break off and melt when they get to open water? It's been going on for thousands of years. And carbon dioxide is good, the more there is, the faster plants grow. The carbon is used to make cells, and the oxygen is released for humans and animals to breath! Basic science, the way God intended it. LEAVE IT ALONE, IT WILL BE ALRIGHT WITHOUT YOU!!!
