Oh, I'm going to take some lumps on this one....
CCK was kind enough to remind me of my own bit of hubris with a post he did today.
Argh. Yes, that was me. Fresh after completely kicking butt in the Pennington County elections, when other Republicans took a bath in the Clinton election victory.
I started off attending a couple of events, and I forged on by myself with no active committee. (What the hell was I thinking?) Yup, I started to make all the bad mistakes. Fortunately for my own sake, God intervened, and my exploratory effort which was destined for doom was quickly cut short by finding out my wife was pregnant with my #2. A paycheck which came in regular intervals suddenly seemed much more important than fame and glory.
14 years later and wiser, I have no regrets about pulling the plug. And I have a soft spot for those willing to roll the dice.

Jan Berkhout, who ran against Johnson in the 94 elections was like one of the few Republicans who couldn't take out a sitting congressman from a red state.
Just think...you might have been part of the Republican takeover of the house.
All you can do is rip on people. No one wants your crazy ass in the legislature. Ok, maybe Brock and Roger Hunt but that's about it!
That is a unfair comment.
At least he speaks his mind and PP just might have came up with some great bills that both sides could have agreed on. I would say that PP would have been upfront on the issues. imho
This is precisely the problem with government in South Dakota: everyone thinks it's about making laws. Everyone with a bright idea thinks it ought to be a law. They really have no idea what "conservative" means. PP is no exception. He's particularly clueless.

And 10:48, believe it or not, I probably agree with you more than anyone. If I was in charge I'd rather see what laws we can do without.
(And yes, I'd leave in place laws on illegal drugs for those who are going to ask).
I suppose i deserved what you said. I am a Republican and proud to be one.
Yes, i agree there are laws we DO NOT need. At the same time there are 'laws" that need to be fixed, reduced and repealed. I did not expand on those comments "i am bad sometimes at not expanding on my thought process".
I know it seems that most voters like candidtes with hair and or a hair line.
But, you do know that there are some people out here who don't notice when people don't have hair or think that some people look very good without a full head of hair. What does not look good is the man who grows one side long and flips it to the other side to hide the baldness. Some even try to tape it down so it does not fly up in the wind and if that doesn't look stupid.
Of course this is my opinion.
So lets give it up on candidates and the lack of hair.
Hair, Hair!
Others would do well to follow his lead.
