I see the Senate Seating arrangement is out..

While they didn't put Frank Kloucek directly next to BJ Nesselhuf or Dan Sutton (per Frank's very public request), they did put Frank in a position where he will have to stare at the back of Dan's head. That is, at least until the rule violations are heard.

It looks like Dan will be in the Senate for a little while. I'm told that last Friday was the deadline given to him by his caucus mates to resign. With yet another ultimatum deadline having come and gone, Dan is dead set to put the Senate on a collision course with history.

What else? According to the chart, Frank's new seat mate is Democrat Tom Katus. And Sutton's seat mate? None other than Republican Senator Brock Greenfield.

(I'll have to ask Brock if this is intended as punishment for he or Sutton.)

Looks like Kloucek got the same committee assignments as last year too. Apparently it doesn't seem to matter to the Dem senate leadership that when a member's backstabbing activities become a shameful public event, he still gets his rewards. Apparently there is no spine when it comes to reprimanding Kloucek or Sutton.

Who's in charge? The inmates?

The new leadership just flunked its first test.

PP, if Dan is innocent, why should he resign?? WOULD YOU?? I think he made his point loud and clear, now let the chips fall as they may...but everyone is entitled to have a fair shake, until otherwise proven.

At least weak-minded, frequently befuddled Dennis Schmidt has someone to help him keep his head out of his @#$.

He couldn't figure out what political party he was in, then he couldn't figure out how to circulate petitions properly, but who knows? With Ed Olson's help he will probably be more competent than a lot of other GOP legislators.

At least the PP's buddy, aka Big Boy, won't have to resort to his typical committee behavior of *snicker snicker* and instant messaging to chat with Danny while the senate is in session.

When they hold the special session (supposedly at the end of November) , since he's left them already, I think his colleagues should expel him from the caucus. Sure. At that point it's only going to be symbolic. But since he's already said he's running again in the near future, sometimes symbolism is enough.

It's about health, not potential promiscuity.

As the only South Dakota blogger out with 5 daughters, I feel I need to weigh in on the whole discussion that's occurring with regards to the HPV vaccine, and Governor Rounds' proposal to make it available. My family (including my three oldest girls) watched my mom, their grandmother, succumb slowly and painfully to cancer which spread throughout her body. If a similar fate from a different type of cancer was preventable through a simple shot, why wouldn't anyone advocate for it? At the age most of my kids are going to be getting it, they're still playing with barbies, and negative influences such as most of the programming on MTV, and other assorted trashy television is verboten in my house. All they're going to know about this vaccination is that it's a shot, just like for teatnus or measles. They'll go "Ow, I don't want a shot," and that will be it. Just another mark on their vaccination record. One check box for DPT, one for HPV, and so on...
