Cry Havok! And let slip the dogs of the legislature

The Argus is reporting on the Sutton affair tonight, as the subpoenas will be made available on Tuesday. At the same time one of Sutton's attorneys gets a little overly dramatic:
Subpoenas connected to allegations of misconduct involving Sen. Dan Sutton are expected to be made public on Tuesday as lawmakers forge ahead with plans to conduct a hearing on the matter.

and...

Duffy said a hearing would harm the legislative chamber by leading to more investigations of lawmakers.

“The dogs of war are about to be unleashed,” Duffy said. “The long-term effect of what we’re going to do is that the Senate is never going to be the same after we’re done.”
Woof it all down here as attorney Duffy threatens them with the dogs of war.

Arf..

Anonymous said…
PP, not to pick on you but did you mean HAVOC, as in general disorder or destruction?

If Big Daddy's Back is Duffy, I'll second anon 11:06's comment.

Oh come on now PP, I thought that was freakin hilarious...I giggled for about 15 minutes with that one!! He's one funny guy that Duffy. I like him A lot. If I ever need a lawyer, I'd give him a call...he's great!!!

5:06

No Havok is a Czech pig farmer from Pukwana. He can be one mean SOB when people cry out his name.

I'll second 7:06. Duffy is smart and funny. He's a good lawyer and if you need a trial lawyer you could do a hell of a lot worse.

I think Duffy is dead serious!! This entire saga from beginning to present has been an absolute joke. I've never heard so many very intelligent people say things such as "we will learn as we go" and Schoenbeck...don't EVEN get me started on that dip sh*t. When you are dealing with serious allegations such as the ones Austin Wiese made against Sutton you CAN NOT "learn as you go". There are real lives at stake and it needs to be dealt with in a manner that everyone gets utmost respect and fairness. From my side of the aisle, I haven't seen a lot of fairness to Dan, but I'm sure Duffy and Butler are more than ready to change that!! Oh and maybe Wiese should try to keep his nose clean (ie...new years) and stay out of trouble until this thing is all done with...considering he is so "victimized"...sure doesn't act like it...IN MY OPINION!!

come on PP...open up comments on your post from last night (law enforcement run in)...you KNOW the info you got was accurate and true!!

Is it true that all "trial lawyers" are unscrupulous and Democrats?

Sort of goes hand in hand doesn't it!
Anonymous said…
Oh come on VJ...you and your big words..of course all democrats are not unscrupulous...I for one am "PERFECT" :)

Duffy is excellent. He's a little bit obnoxious, but he's indisputably brilliant, and if you ever NEED a lawyer, he should be at the very top of your list.

And if Duffy really is BDB, more power to him. BDB is one of the most creative and entertaining writers I've ever seen.

8:43, Yes, I have the story, and yes, I have a witness, but I don't have Law Enforcement's confirmation yet.

So, just hold your horses, I'm working on it.

and anonymous inferences about someones sexual preference will be deleted.

pp- Did you at least find it humorous before you deleted it, because I did. You have to admit, it is kinda funny. And, it is the honest to God's truth that Law Enforcement really did find him hiding in the closet.

I apologize if my post was out of line. I was just making a joke.

Yes Duffy is excellent. Just ask the dinosaur people how good he is...

"and anonymous inferences about someones sexual preference will be deleted." --PP

It's impossible to draw an inference anonymously. It's also impossible to delete an inference.

You probably can, however, delete something you consider an implication about someone's sexual preferences.

if the kid did happen to get in trouble, whats the big deal? he's just a kid - and i'm positive he isn't the only one who has had a run in with the law enforcement. "let him who is without sin cast the first stone"
Anonymous said…
I agree. If you are one who has never made a mistake, feel free to criticize the kid, otherwise, leave the situation alone. I think we are all tired of listening to Sutton's nephews sit in school and relentlessly attack a possible victim. Let's wait a couple weeks and then we can all judge.

Maybe the real victim in this whole thing is Dan? Ever thought of that?

8:34-

It's not like Austin hasn't been a little arrogant in this whole thing? If you are going to judge the people on one side, you really should judge the actions of the other.

We will all watch and see who really turns out to be the victim in this deal.

Remember, the people of Dan's legislative district re-voted him into office knowing these allegations. They obviously had enough disbelief in these allegations to do so.

If the people of his district were comfortable enough re-sending him to Pierre to represent them, should the legislature seriously override them? There is a reason that we vote.

PP- how you coming on that story regarding one of the parties involved in the Austin Wiese-Dan Sutton deal having a run-in with the law? We have been patiently waiting.
PP said…
I'm still waiting for a state's atty to get back to me with confirmation...

10:12 - yes I agree both sides should be evenly judged. i was just saying that in the case of a run in with the law - we all can't say we are pure in that situation. so it would be hypocritical to sit here and gossip about the kid's new year's situation.

also, the people of mr. sutton's districts did re-elect him - but at the time the allegations were still somewhat unclear and still considered 'rumors'. now usually we are all taught to not believe such rumors until they are proved true. so I think we are all jumping the gun a bit. why don't we wait to see what happens in two weeks? Think of it this way - two weeks from now it won't matter what you or I have to say about this situation. it will be dealt with and the truth or lies will hopefully be revealed. until then (when the truth is made public) - most of everything is just rumors and gossip.

Pat Duffy is very bright but his veiled threat is beneath him

3:14. Having read some of BDB's comments before, this veiled threat is NOT beneath him.

I have to amend my above comment. I don't mean he has threatened anyone. It's just that his comments have not always been nice to others.
