I have nothing but positives to say about Isaac. From pure moxie he took out an incumbent legislator and he just about had the brass ring in his hand. It's within recount margins, and I hope he proceeds forward.

I've heard that in 2 years Sutton will be making a return challenge. I hope Latterell is in the mix again as well. Isaac has proven he can run with the best.

Suck that thumb for 2 years then give it another run. Of course if D. Sutton runs again, the party would be wise to support him.

Don't blame Isaac for the loss. The state party only gave him $250 with which to win. If they would have given him 1/10th of what they gave Kelly, it would still be in Republican hands. You can't buy advertising unless you have money.

Randy was in charge of passing out the cash. Great job. Kelly gets killed and Isaac barely looses with no help. Smart.

Ditto to Dana Randall for state chairman! That would be the best thing that ever happened to the democratic party! He could screw up the whole state like he did Brown County. He should be so proud. District 2 and 3 at least had three of each party before, now it's 4-2. In my opinion Dana Randall wouldn't be qualified for dog catcher let alone Chairman of a once respected party in South Dakota. The loss of a two thirds majority in 2006 could be only the tip of the iceberg.

So what was the polling that made Randy and the GOP not support Isaac? That he would lose bad, or win big? This is supposed to be a gerrymandered sure GOP district!

When they hold the special session (supposedly at the end of November) , since he's left them already, I think his colleagues should expel him from the caucus. Sure. As the only South Dakota blogger out with 5 daughters, I feel I need to weigh in on the whole discussion that's occurring with regards to the HPV vaccine, and Governor Rounds' proposal to make it available. My family (including my three oldest girls) watched my mom, their grandmother, succumb slowly and painfully to cancer which spread throughout her body. If a similar fate from a different type of cancer was preventable through a simple shot, why wouldn't anyone advocate for it? At the age most of my kids are going to be getting it, they're still playing with barbies, and negative influences such as most of the programming on MTV, and other assorted trashy television is verboten in my house. All they're going to know about this vaccination is that it's a shot, just like for teatnus or measles. They'll go "Ow, I don't want a shot," and that will be it. Just another mark on their vaccination record. One check box for DPT, one for HPV, and so on
