This was already in the hands of a Dem/Rep.

good for Stan. Elli is a one issue candidate and that issue is what is destroying the Republican party. Kick out Ellie, Leslie, Brock and the rest.

Randy F. should have stopped her from running, should have stopped Latrell...thanks, Randall. Go back to Hayti. Realize this purge of the moderates cost you seats and will cost you in session.

The Republican party and Randy Frederick deserve exactly what they got last night..a butt kicking. Good luck pushing their current or planned agenda in the 2007 session. Now if we can get Apa, Gant and Greenfield to screw up, the Senate can hold a special session to get rid of them too.

Elli lost and we are still waiting to hear your analysis of the 7th Circuit Court race. These two were two peas in a pod.

What? Was Katus bought by the trial lawyers too?

anon 11:56,
I am no Randy Frederick fan but keeping 20-15 lead in the senate, picking up a seat in the house, having a governor get 62%, AG get 65%, and knocking out an incumbant School & Public Lands Commish isn't a bad night.
Where Randy failed is to much support for Dick Kelley. Money would have been better spent on Lattrel and maybe Bill Early, each of which stood a chance. Plus Randy had a hand in booting Sahr who would have easily won his race.

I also heard the state party gave nelson (chris) 30 grand and he wasnt opposed, could that be right ?

that money certainly could have been better spent.

Yes and Vern Larson and Sattgast got a lot, too. Plus Rounds got over 300 Grand. He could have beat Billion with half of that. Billion is too far left to get elected in SD. Just give Latterel, Early, and Klaudt 10 Grand each and you'd easily have 2 more seats. Rounds didn't really have any coattails, he campaigned heavily for Diedrich, Johnson, and Arnold and they all lost.

PP, it would be interesting to run that post again on how much the parties spent on candidates now that it's over. Also, it seems people are blaming Frederick for all these "far right" candidates, yet wasn't he blamed for getting "pro-choice" Holbeck to go up against Greenfield. So, what's the truth, or is it just that you can't please everybody.

Rounds and the central committee should definately give Randy the boot. Should have been done a long ago, along with his highly (over)paid, self proclaimed political geniuses Hugh Weber and Doug Loen who did no favors to Dick Kelley among others.
